I am an author/ illustrator with a passion for picture books and design-led products.
Born and raised in the highlands of Scotland, I now work from my home studio in Perthshire. The studio sits in an inspiring little town that huddles on a hill. Angled rooftops and jaunty chimney pots contrast with an abundance of trees. Binocs are stationed at my desk so I’m ready for all bird-spotting opportunities!
Many moons ago, I worked as a children's Social Worker, before moving with my husband, Mal to the south of Sweden. While there I found the space and time to focus on developing my creative practice.
On my return to Scotland, I studied printmaking which led to creating design-led illustrations for the retail market under my brand ‘Coppertop Croft’. I continue to license design collections, which includes client work with retailers such as national tourism organisation, Visit Scotland.
My creative approach combines printmaking techniques, collage, and digital processes to produce bold quirky illustrations.
I find inspiration from nature, music, my interest in characters, and my love for vintage, antiques, and found objects.
I also enjoy ‘playing’ with words and writing as much as creating visual work.
I am Mum to creative teenage twins, Maeve and Eskel, and to a floofy dog that sometimes answers to the name Fergus.
